Solar PV Technical Design Engineer


Solen Energy is an independent national wholesale distributor for a wide range of Solar PV, EV and Electrical products.

The Role

Solen Energy UK are looking to recruit a full time Technical Designer to join our team to support our ongoing growth. Your primary focus will be the design of domestic and commercial solar projects and offer in house technical support.

Working within the technical team, you’ll be designing renewable technology solutions using a specialist design software to perfectly suit our customers installation requirements and their energy generation requirements and wider customer needs.

Salary:

£35k based on experience.

Working Hours:
  • Full-time - Permanent
  • Monday - Thursday 8am – 5pm
  • Friday 8am – 4pm
  • No weekends
  • Based near Speke, Liverpool
Desirable:
  • Electrical Design Experience.
  • Good Electrical and Solar PV knowledge.
Responsibilities and Duties:

The following list is typical of the level of duties, which the post holder is expected to perform. It is not necessarily exhaustive and other duties of a similar type and level may be required from time to time;

  • Working within the technical team, and with suppliers and sub-contractors to develop and deliver technical solutions, primarily for domestic and commercial Solar PV.
  • Carry out system design, including shading analysis and 3D modelling.
  • Identify parts and components to be used for the procurement process.
  • Ownership of all technical documents relating to mechanical and electrical design.
  • Support design and technical colleagues with site surveys and feasibility assessments.
  • To manage the development of cost-effective design and engineering solutions and deliver complete design packages for project proposals (including tenders).
  • Production of project specific technical specifications and drawings.
  • Management of technical relationships with sub-contractors, funders, and Distribution Network Operators.
  • Support the specification of components for the procurement process
  • Where required liaise with the client on technical matters including system handover, and export meters.
  • Provide quality advice and installation support where required during the construction phase.
  • Assist in the survey of potential future projects.
  • Represent the company at external events where required.

    Trade Counter / Warehouse Assistant

    Role:

    Offer a high standard of service to customers, attending to orders and enquiries received from customers and potential customers over the phone, via email and in person. Taking responsibility for receiving and processing sales orders. Maintain a good technical knowledge of our product range and endeavour to always maximise customer sales. Maintaining controls within the warehouse by keeping accurate stock levels, monitoring goods in and out, and complying with health and safety policies and procedures.

    Job Overview

    Key responsibilities:
    • Dealing with orders and enquiries received from customers and potential customers who attend the branch, whether they report directly to the trade counter, or present themselves anywhere else on the Company’s premises. In particular, offering direct assistance to customers.
    • Offering a high standard of customer service by greeting customers and politely ascertaining their needs and wants. If appropriate recommending and pointing out items matching their needs, and accurately describing product features and benefits to maximise sales and customer satisfaction.
    • Adopting a pro-active approach to maximise sales to existing customers.
    • Actively making enquiries with customers who are not trading with Grant and Stone by exploring new sales opportunities where possible.
    • Resolving customer queries, investigating complaints, and resolving these as soon as possible.
    • Where appropriate, renegotiating product standard price, and considering special prices when necessary to maximise product sales.
    • Consult with suppliers, customers and branch drivers to assist with delivery planning and logistics.
    • Be proactive in maintaining up to date technical knowledge of all products sold, ensuring that product knowledge is kept up to date with any technical product updates and changes.
    • Working with Management and Sales Staff to keep stock at optimum levels.
    • Attend training relating to the role if requested by the Company.
    • Always observe strict adherence to the Company’s Health and Safety procedures.
    • Undertake additional or alternative tasks and duties in line with the branch requirements.
    Qualifications and Attributes:
    • Strong addition and subtraction skills.
    • Electrical Wholesale Experience ideal.
    • IT literate.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good knowledge of the industry.
    • Ability to take instructions and work under minimal supervision.
    • Able to prioritize workload effectively and work under pressure.
    • Ability to maintain technical knowledge of product ranges.
    • Capable of interpreting customers’ needs where appropriate.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Willingness to undertake training to improve capability in role.
