SAJ FAQ's

A1. Contact your distributor and they will provide you with a 6-digit invitation code. Use this to create your installer account from the eSolar portal web page on the SAJ website.
A2. Go to the web address saj-electric.com. Click on the icon top right on a desktop (as hightlighted below in the red square). If viewing this content on a mobile simply click here to go direct to the SAJ eSolar login page (you might need to scroll right to view the login area).

saj eSolar portal

A3. Contact your installer to create this for you. You need to provide them with an email address from which they can generate you an account. You will receive notification of an account and be provided with a password. You can also use the APP eSolar- Air to view your system from a mobile device which is freely available to download from Play store (Android) or the APP store (iPhone). Use the same log-in credentials that you were given for the eSolar portal.
A4. The easiest way to commission the inverter is to use the App eSolar O&M which is freely available to download for Android and iPhones.

(i) From your mobile device log into the eSolar O&M App using the same username and password that you use for logging into the eSolar portal account.

(ii) Select the icon at the bottom right-hand side of your screen which will show a menu of options where you need to select “Remote Configuration”.

(iii) From this screen select either Bluetooth or WiFi for how you wish to connect to the inverter for configuration. When using Bluetooth remember to enable Bluetooth on your phone.

(iv) Initial Settings – Set time and grid code

(v) Battery - Set Battery to SAJ-CAN (when using SAJ battery)

(vi) Measuring Device – Select the appropriate configuration. Eg. For H1 set to single phase DDSU666 (100A CT based) meter, and ensure the address is set to 1.

A6. The smart meter which needs to be sited near the mains incomer, will need some containment. If there aren’t any spare ways within and existing consumer unit that can be used, then it is recommended to purchase a small containment box. The width of the meter takes up two ways and needs to be supplied 230V from a 6A breaker.
A7. Make sure you have a 25mm and 35mm crimping tool to connect the supplied lugs to the battery cable that connects between the inverter and the battery.

It would also be useful if you had an RJ45 crimping tool in case you need to make off any comms cables.
A8. From your portal account select plant and under the basic info section will be the inverter and battery tabs with device information. If the battery tab is not visible this means the battery is not communicating with the inverter. There should be a tab for each battery. Also check the battery log of the plant, there should be data present.
A9. Perform the following checks…

(i) Use the eSolar O&M App to check that you have selected the correct battery.

(ii) For SAJ batteries, check that the last battery connected to the inverter has the COM3 RJ45 termination resistor in place.

(iii) Check the communication cable from the H1 comes from the CAN port and connects into COM2 of the first battery.

(iv) Check the DIP switch settings of the battery are set correctly. Eg. Battery 1 has all switches set to OFF (0000), battery 2 has DIP switches set (0001), battery 3 has DIP switches set (0010).

(v) If you need to change any of the DIP switches: adjust the DIP switch settings, then switch the battery OFF and then ON again to apply the new settings to the battery. Then turn the H1 off and on again.

A10. Perform the following checks…

(i) Check the CT is correctly placed in the system and is the correct way around. It should be located on the main incomer and the arrow on it should face towards the loads of the building not towards the grid. If the incomer goes into a Henley block, ensure the CT is on the incomer side of the Henley block otherwise readings will be wrong.

(ii) Ensure the CT leads are connected to the meter correctly, White to pin 5, and Blue to pin 6.

(iii) Ensure the ethernet cable between the inverter and the meter is connected from the inverter RS485 port to the meter:

    RS485A[inverter pin7 to meter pin 24]
    RS485B[inverter pin8 to meter pin 25]
A11. Check that a discharge timer is not set during the times PV should be charging the battery. The function of the discharge timer will stop the battery from charging.
A12. Although both the inverter and batteries are IP65 rated, it’s not recommended to locate equipment outside since the effects extreme effects of hot and cold weather have a direct impact upon the performance of both the inverter and the batteries. Consider the effects of temperature in the location you choose to install.
A13. If the portal account was created before the battery was switched on, it won’t show any data about the battery. Switch the H1 off completely, ie. Switch the DC power off, the battery off and the AC off ensure there is no power to the unit and then re-start everything. The battery information should now be visible in the portal.
A14. The battery has two switches: One is a breaker that needs to be switched on and the second is a push button on the front of the battery. To start the battery, ensure the breaker is on and then press and hold then button for around 10 seconds, the battery will illuminate Blue, and the battery will start.
